The Holodomor “Extermination by hunger” was a man-made famine in the Ukrainian SSR and adjacent Cossack territories between 1932 and 1933. During the famine, which is also known as the “Terror-Famine in Ukraine” and “Famine-Genocide in Ukraine” millions of Ukrainians and Cossacks died of starvation in a peacetime catastrophe unprecedented in the history of Ukraine.
This museum is is dedicated to the estimated 3 -3.5 million people who lost their lives during this atrocious event.
Note: Ukraine officially celebrates Holodomor Remembrance Day on the fourth Saturday of November. At precisely 4:00pm, a one minute of silence is observed to show respect to the victims of Holodomor.
